Sapphira Mesh Body

The arrival of mesh feet was certainly a boon to the beauty of avatar feet, which was followed by the arrival of mesh hands. I set out to find what the mesh body would do for the avatar.

The Sapphira Mesh Body is owned by Morrigan Bellic and Lexii Ceryos. Morrigan gave me the history of its beginnings. “This body is a work in progress. It began in SL™ with a company that had to go out of business due to health issues. We bought the assets and improved on the initial product.”

To improve the body, she explained, “Lexii does all of the scripting. She is amazing. We have revamped the entire HUD system and scripting system since taking over the body, as well as making adjustments to the body and hands, and adding feet. We have also added 8 skintone, 10 fingernail, and 10 toenail presets to the HUD.”

Developer Kit

For clothing designers, she stated, “developer kits are included with the body or can be obtained separately. We also offer the assets (.dae files) for mesh clothing designers interested in rigging their clothing to the body.”

When I arrived to look at the Sapphira Mesh Body, Raeven Moonweava, a purchaser, happened to be there. She was happy to talk to me about the mesh body for this article. “…well having several mesh bodies in SL™, i would say this is pretty good. We just need alot of designers now with appliers,” she said. She likes the hands, saying, “…alot of poses for them too.”

She continued, “I only got it today, but so far the only problem I’ve found is really an IW problem, and that’s  scripts, you need to reset the body scripts, and the hud scripts, and atm I can’t change nail colour, again a script issue I think.”

Having no knowledge of mesh bodies, I decided to try the demo. I was impressed by the shape being very smooth and the fact that it kept my height the same. I do recommend trying the demo so you can see for yourself.

Looking ahead, Morrigan said, “with the new Bento project skeleton being released in SL™ (and hopefully other grids soon), we will be able to make major adjustments to the body, such as cutting the hands down to one pose with the new rigging and adding fitted mesh heads. We are also working on a male body and a second female body.”

Debra Avon

There is at least one designer offering clothing for the new body, Debra Avon, the owner of Business Diva Boutique. Talking about her involvement, she said, “working with mesh bodies has been part of my design since SL™, and coming to IW, this has given me the chance to expand my creations, and give the community the opportunity to try a new trend of fashion. The Sapphira Mesh Body has given the females the ability to create a more curvy shape, compared to the traditional avatar.”

Morning Coffee

Rowland Larkham (affectionately known as Rowe) always leaves a trail of fun and friendship in his wake. It’s easy to see why Morning Coffee has been a popular place since he and his partner and real-life wife, Ziva Danylo-Larkham, brought it to InWorldz in July 2010. “…I used to mentor here, and peeps needed a place other than IDI to hang out, so I started morning coffee,” Rowe said while we talked recently. “Morning Coffee started as a table and chairs under a tree on the Club 1 sim, almost 6 yr ago and expanded from that.”

Morning Coffee is a place for Rowe and Ziva to carry out their mission of welcoming and helping InWorldz residents. Rowe explains, “…we…greet and help others. It makes me feel good to help peeps find their way, as I know I’m actually doing something I wish I could do in RL. Peeps appreciate it, and return for chat etc.”

Club

With that in mind, they’ve built a new and improved Morning Coffee and are hosting a mall and housing on their new sim, as well as a shiny new club. The scenic features include a windmill and a raised trolleyway. The sim is still under construction, but the cafe and club are fully operational and the mall has a handful of shops open. Qiao Ling is often djing with Carol Caproni hosting, but even when no planned events are happening, there are often people chatting in the cafe. It has a reputation of being a friendly place to drop in to, so you’ll find the “etc” is a warm welcome whether this is your first time or 100th.

Morning Coffee is tiny and dinky friendly. A small seating area has been placed on the counter so you can chat eye-to-eye with biggies. You can feel free to dance on the counter whether you’re small or large.

Being that Rowe usually attracts a crowd, tiny minky dropped in while we chatted. “…we all support Rowland and Ziva as wells they very dear to us,” tiny stated, as Rowe explained how Morning Coffee had been stationed on a corner of Club 1 Harbor for awhile so as not to lose friendships built over the years. “Awhile ago, it was asked how many friendships I have, over 12,000,” Rowe said.

When I mentioned I was afraid we’d lost him to Great Canadian Grid, he explained, “Roddie is a great guy, it the basics of the grid that isn’t ready for me yet. Bulletsim physx is very outdated. It’s older than SL havoc…IW is home us. Elenia [Llewellyn] and Tranq [Dexler]are special friends. They gave us our wedding reception in RL.”
“When I found IW, I informed a lot of friends about it, and ill say, MOST of them came here, over 3000.”

As you notice, this area of the sim is under construction. The major structures are built and in place. Only the fine details need to be worked out. Rowe didn’t actually say much about it except it’s a 2×2 and that he was building a biggie trolley because the biggies’ heads would pop out of the tiny one.

Then, he deflected the talk away from himself to give me advice. According to him I should:
a. talk to Elenia about writing a blog about IW events
b. interview Judy Muircastle
c. talk to Oldesoul and Bain about RFL (which I’ve actually done)
Maybe Rowe, but the interview is about you and Ziva and Morning Coffee.

Shops Area

Shops Area

One thing you may not know is that Rowe makes the party. If you invite him, it will be the biggest it ever could be. When you invite someone as beloved as Rowe and he invites a “few” of his friends, the place will be rockin’ and everyone will have a great time.

I had to chase Rowe down to get an interview. He kept insisting that he had nothing interesting to say. And, he wanted me to ask other people about Morning Coffee. Finally, I cornered him, with the added bonus of having the company of Ziva.

There was only one person more difficult to interview and I never did pin that one down. Such is his nature to place a higher value on the opinions of others, but in this case he was closest to the story. Only he could tell the history as it happened.

Lounge

Rowe had some final words.
“Now with prolly 12,000 friends here I couldn’t leave if I wanted to.” [We hope not.]
And for me…
“You welcome to drop by n chat when ya wanna.”
See you there.

Busy Busy Housekeeping Items

As many of you know, I’ve got myself involved in horse breeding and rental housing. I should say horse breeding has become an obsession. And, my next project is RFL of IW magazine. So my plate is quite overflowing. Today, I made the decision to use my blog and flickr for reporting.

There are a few articles I have ready to post and I’m in the midst of uploading my stock of photos. I won’t rule out new issues of IW Republic, but for now I think it is wise to go this route.
